It’s Labor Day weekend, Summer is coming to an end, school is starting up, everyone soon will be heading back to work and the essence of Fall is in the air.

September 12th is the National Day of Encouragement. This day is dedicated to uplifting others by making a positive impact on their lives. As you encourage others, you will find more who will encourage you as well.
Encouragement comes in many forms, whether it’s a big or small gesture, it can go a long way.
Here are a few ideas:
Positive words: You can encourage anyone whether it be a student struggling with their classes or a fellow co-worker stressed with a project at work. Acknowledging one’s hard work can go a long way. Go over to your fellow classmates and tell them they’re working hard and that they will pass their classes. Go over to your coworker and talk with them about what they’re working on. Supporting one another by discussing their passions. This small gesture can add a positive light to someone who may be struggling. All they needed was some words of encouragement.
Communication: Talking to one another can uplift a person. They may have a burden hanging on their shoulders or have nobody to discuss their problems and frustrations with. Taking time out of your day to talk to your friends, co-workers, or other students about their life and their troubles can lift that burden off their shoulders and encourage them to work harder and feel better mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Gestures: A hug, a smile. Sometimes, your day is going bad and no matter how hard you try you seem to sink into a deeper hole of despair. Maybe all you need is a kind soul to give you a smile, or a hug to just show that this day will end and a better tomorrow will occur. All it takes is a subtle gesture to show you care for someone even if you have never spoken or seen them in your life. A little kindness can go a long way.
