For the Sacral (Svadhisthana) Chakra video, we offer you a Meditation to open up your Sacral Chakra and channel the Kundalini energy to fill you with positive creative energy.

🌹After having cultivated a secure and rooted foundation within our body in the Root Chakra, the Sacral Chakra is the next step where we open up to enjoying the pleasures of life. Located right below our navel and represented by the element of water, it is the center where we begin to go beyond survival and enjoy the abundance of sensorial pleasures such as our emotions, the creative arts, luxuries, food and healthy intimate relationships.

The Sacral Chakra is where our Kundalini, our libido, lies. As we start to awaken our libido and pull the energy from the Sacral, we start to awaken to the more pleasurable aspects of life. It’s important to not allow it to consume us, lose all spiritual direction, and succumb to lower hedonistic desires of the lower centers. Most major religions warn about this because sensual pleasure can be deceptively pleasing and hide the realities that bring us pain. Instead of facing and processing through the pain, many will simply numb it through sex, food, alcohol or drugs. This numbing only serves to mask what is there but it does absolutely nothing to resolve it.

However, on the flip side, pure austerity a life without any sensual pleasure denies us enjoyment which is only natural and part of who we are. Getting in touch and integrating our libido with our other Chakras is crucial in submitting our body to flow with the current of our other Chakras. Without forgoing the other Chakras, when we access our libido, we start to learn what excites us and engage in life in a sensual and pleasurable flow. When integrated with the other Chakras, the joy and excitement derived from sensual pleasure is what makes us feel alive, happy and joyful!

Just as the Chakras together need to be balanced so must the sensual pleasure that we experience. Our sensual pleasures (food, dance, sex, etc.) must be in balance with our work, family commitments, friendships, responsibilities, and health. It is important to enjoy sensual pleasures but never at the cost of the other aspects of our lives. Equally though, when we work, work, work ourselves to exhaustion and don’t have any fun we are out of balance.

Many couples who separate blame sex as the source of their trouble when lack of or troubled sex is often merely a symptom of deeper issues being avoided. Sex is most often not the source but a convenient scapegoat. Because the deeper issues cause an emotional drift between two people which then impedes their sex life. Or they use sex to create emotional intimacy without really connecting with someone deeply because they’re avoiding vulnerability.

Pleasure is important and part of the balance of our lives and we feel the greatest joy and fulfillment when pleasure is in celebration of the other aspects of our lives. When we have a feast to honor an accomplishment or achievement in education or profession, when we toast our health, family or friendships and when we have sex with our partner to share the love for one another, we are integrated and balanced. The Sacral Chakra, as it is a lower Chakra, works best when balanced with the upper Chakras.
