Spiritual well being is often the most neglected with regards to self-care because some people simply don’t believe that we are anything but our bodies, some people rely solely on a religious organization or leader and some people seek something greater than themselves but don’t know how to make the connection. Spirituality is connection with something greater than ourselves, with the energy that surrounds us, with those in the Spirit realm (e.g. heaven, Nirvana), and all that is and ever was. How you name it matters not, how you envision it matters not, what matters is how you connect with it and how you work with it to bring about the greater good for yourself and the greater good for all.
This blog is part of a self-care blog series. In Part 1 of our self-care blog series, we focused on ways to improve mental health and in Part 2 we discussed physical health. In Part 3 of this blog series, we will focus on spiritual well-being and how it can help you clear your mind and improve your physical health.
Meditation is a great way to release stress as we mentioned in Part 1 of this blog series; however, it has been a spiritual practice for centuries. If you can fully release the conscious mind, let go of the ego, you can connect with your subconscious and with universal consciousness. With proper spiritual practice, and always setting an intent at the start of your meditative practice that it be for your highest good and the highest good of all, you can open a portal to receive messages that can guide you to make better life choices. It is advisable to meditate in a quiet place for one hour to give you the time to disconnect from your daily stress and get into a deep meditative state. For those who struggle to clear their mind of their worries, you can partake in guided meditation where you may receive one-on-one direction through the process. Spiritual Spectra offers meditation workshops to teach you how to meditate!
In the last decade, there has been a spiritual awakening and more people are seeking connection with something greater than themselves or are experiencing that connection without a real understanding of it. For some this is an extension of their current spiritual practice. While for others, they are beginning to understand “Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter” as Yoda said in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Spiritual self-care is vitally important because we are more than just matter, we are energy, we are Spirit and that part of ourselves needs healing too.
Releasing Toxic People & Situations
Part of spiritual health is a detoxification of the negative energy that surrounds us. Just as the physical environment can impact the body (e.g. hay affecting allergies, asbestos causing cancer, etc.), your emotional or energetic environment can impact your spiritual, mental and physical wellbeing. If you are surrounded by negative or toxic people or in a negative or toxic place or situation, you will absorb that energy. Have you ever spent time with a person and then after you leave them feel tired, frustrated or overwhelmed? That’s because they inadvertently transferred their negative energy to you.
Why stay in a toxic relationship (family, friend or romantic) or work environment that doesn’t serve you? Stop making excuses, stop sticking with what you know, stop suffering in silence, stop playing it safe and stop tolerating inexcusable behavior or situations. It takes strength and courage to make a real change and make the tough choices that in the end will make for a much better life.
Law of Attraction
Just as you choose the people you surround yourself with on a daily basis, you also attract people into your life. Have you ever dated three people in a row to discover they’re all the same person but with different names? That’s because you attracted them to you. Have you ever had a supervisor at work become your mentor and your champion? That’s because you attracted them to you. It works both ways, you can attract toxic people or good people.
When you focus on the positive, when you adapt to change, when you make healthy choices for your life, when you take ownership and responsibility for all that you say or do, when you listen to feedback for growth (not negativity but that which is for your greater good) and are open for amazing people, possibilities and opportunities to come your way, they will.
Take a moment and think right now about the thoughts, words and actions you are making about and for yourself and toward others. What are they attracting?
Releasing toxic people and situations can be very challenging because of the connections we make. We have emotional and spiritual connections with people but these can become toxic and when it does, it can not only affect your spiritual health but your mental and physical health as well. Think how you feel during and after a fight with a loved one or a coworker. Often your mind will be racing, you feel confused, frustrated and angry. Physically, you might suffer a headache or feel your stomach in knots or your heart pounding in your chest. Listen to what all these symptoms are trying to tell you. It may take time to release toxic people and situations from your life, so in the meantime follow suggestions from Part 1 and Part 2 of this blog series to help you heal. If you still find that you haven’t been able to fully release toxicity and negativity, Spiritual Spectra offers Energy Healing to release it from your mind, body and spirit.
Property Energy Clearing
Toxic people and situations create toxic environments. The negative energy that is being absorbed by you and others is also being absorbed into the room and objects in that space. While we live in a physical world, we are surrounded by energy and spirit and are thereby impacted by it.
Have you ever walked into a room and it felt stuffy and constricting or it felt creepy, sad or strange somehow? That’s because the room has absorbed all the negativity from the people and circumstances that have occurred in that room. When this happens, the room needs to be cleared spiritually. This can be done by saging it (light a small bundle of white sage), sprinkling Holy water, or carrying a clear crystal quartz and a hematite crystal all around the room whilst calling out your intention. The intention should call upon the highest good to bring about healing (if you honor a deity you may call them), demand that all negative energy, entity or negativity be banished from the room permanently, ask that the room be cleansed and to bring light and love into the space for healing and the highest good of all who may enter it.
Whilst these property energy clearing techniques work in most circumstances, occasionally there may be something stronger at work than just left over negative energy. Negative entities or ghosts may also be influencing people to speak and act in negative ways, and spreading negative energy. If this is what you suspect may be happening, do not speak, engage with or even acknowledge the presence of anything negative whilst in the room or near the room you sense it. It seeks to influence and affect you so it’s best to treat it like an unwanted pest, ignore it and let the professionals remove it. Spiritual Spectra offers Property Energy Clearing services for home or office in the MD/DC/VA area (areas further away will incur travel expenses).
Spiritual healing and health is vitally important and can impact both your mental and physical well-being. Mind-body-spirit wellness practices should be a part of your daily life. We hope that you can incorporate suggestions from Part 1 Mind and Part 2 Body of this Self-Care blog series into your self-care.
